Subject: White, Male, 28
The subject and his girlfriend are in bed, awake, watching television. They see an advertisement for a carved wooden Buddha, whose head and belly may be rubbed for good luck. "Do you want one of those?" the girlfriend asks.
The subject says no, and proceeds to explain why, in great detail. In mid-explanation, however, the subject realizes why she asked: she has already bought him a wooden Buddha carving, and expected him to answer "yes," so she could pleasantly surprise him with the gift.
The subject tries to backpedal, but feels like a real jerk.
The subject awakens.
