There's an ad campaign here in New York aimed at getting people to report suspicious behavior and parcels that might be bombs. The slogan is: "If you see something, say something." Yesterday on a Q train at 57th Street, we saw this reasonable response on a Post-It.
Imagine if people really did call an antiterrorism hotline to report every bizarre character or discarded sack they saw on the New York City subway! It would be hard to get around.
Oh, another new counterterrorism initiative is that you can't take pictures in the subways anymore, so please don't narc on our staff photographer.
