Fact Checking the New York Times

A. O. Scott's review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe appeared in the New York Times on December 9th, containing the following statement:

"(T)here are, after all, no talking beavers in the Bible"

Scott's ignorance of scripture is typical of the secularist Times. We refer Scott and Scott's editors to Exodus chapter 3, verse 4:

"And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here (am) I."

No doubt Scott used a simple text search for occurrences of the word "beaver" in the Bible. With only some rudimentary Sunday schooling, someone at the Times would have known that King James and other translators typically use the synonym "bush." We encourage our readers to email the Times and point out their error.
